SpaceX hiring: civil engineer and senior counsel for Louisiana work
The engineering job starts in Texas before a required move to Louisiana in early 2027. The Louisiana counsel listing requires onsite work in Pecan Island.
Published
SpaceX is seeking a civil engineer and a senior real-estate lawyer for Louisiana work, according to its public job listings checked September 17. Both listings carry a Pecan Island location tag, but applicants should note an important difference: the engineering job starts in Texas and requires a later move to Louisiana; the Louisiana counsel listing requires work onsite in Pecan Island.
Civil engineer: Texas first, Louisiana in 2027
SpaceX lists the engineering role as Civil Engineer, Land Development (Starbase Infrastructure - Louisiana). Its September 17 listing says the engineer will initially work in Starbase, Texas, in the Brownsville/South Padre Island area, then relocate full time to Louisiana in early 2027. Remote work is not considered, and travel of up to 75% is required.
SpaceX's basic qualifications are an engineering bachelor's degree, at least one year of professional civil-engineering design, analysis and drafting experience, and experience with CAD software. The work includes drainage, stormwater, grading, utilities and construction coordination, according to the listing. The Louisiana location tag is Pecan Island; the relocation requirement itself says Louisiana without naming a worksite.
Senior counsel: onsite in Pecan Island
The Sr. Counsel, Real Estate & Infrastructure listing requires onsite work in Pecan Island and travel to other SpaceX offices three or four times a quarter. In the listing checked September 17, SpaceX seeks a lawyer to handle land and real-estate matters, contracts and infrastructure development supporting Starbase, Louisiana.
SpaceX requires a JD or foreign equivalent from an ABA-accredited law school, admission in good standing to the Louisiana bar, and at least eight years as a lawyer supporting complex commercial transactions. Neither this Louisiana listing nor the engineering listing discloses a salary.
SpaceX also lists the same counsel title in Starbase and Bastrop, Texas. Those descriptions support Louisiana work but require onsite work at their respective Texas locations. The listings do not establish how many people the company intends to hire.
The employer's public board records the engineering listing's first publication as September 17 at 10:00 a.m. Central and the Pecan Island counsel listing's as September 15 at 10:40 a.m. Central. Those are employer publication timestamps, distinct from when Vermilion Boom first observed them. Use the linked employer pages for the full requirements and application forms.
Both Louisiana-tagged application pages were available when Vermilion Boom checked them at 9:03 p.m. Central on September 17.
