Vermilion Boom follows what changes around the proposed Pecan Island spaceport, with Vermilion Parish as its anchor and neighboring parishes covered for connected effects.
In its 25 August 2026 announcement, Louisiana Economic Development said SpaceX planned a $100 billion launch facility in Vermilion Parish. The release described construction expected in 2027 and a first launch targeted as soon as 2029. These are announced plans, not completed construction or a confirmed launch date.
The publication follows evidence of change in property markets, employment, businesses, infrastructure and public decisions. Historical comparisons provide context; they do not establish what the spaceport will do.
