Three LA 339 bridges are part of a $4.1 million Vermilion project
DOTD’s replacement plan uses concrete culverts, with detours at two crossings and a temporary bypass at the third.

DOTD announced a $4,135,235 project to replace three timber bridges on LA 339 between LA 14 and the Lafayette Parish line on July 6, 2026. The department’s timetable targets December completion, subject to weather and construction conditions.
The project replaces timber trestles with reinforced concrete box culverts. DOTD’s announcement also lists drainage structures, soil-cement work and new asphalt among the improvements.
The July traffic plan treats the crossings differently. Near Hidalgo Road and Broadview Drive, DOTD calls for full closures during removal and replacement, with a signed detour using LA 14 and LA 338. Emergency vehicles cannot cross those bridges while those closures are in place.
At Bares/Durphy Road, the same announcement provides for a temporary bypass to maintain traffic, including emergency access. DOTD scheduled weekday work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.
Those are the project’s construction arrangements, rather than a daily closure report. For a trip today, DOTD directs drivers to Louisiana 511 or the 511 telephone service for current restrictions.
