Adults in Vermilion, Iberia, St. Martin and St. Mary parishes who want to begin or return to college can seek help through South Louisiana Community College’s TRiO Educational Opportunity Centers. The college’s program guide, checked September 16, 2026, describes free assistance for eligible participants, including people working toward a high-school equivalency credential.
The guide lists help with registering for HiSET classes, completing college applications and applying for financial aid and scholarships. Staff can also help prospective students compare degree and certificate options, prepare for entrance examinations and explore careers that fit their interests and abilities.
SoLAcc identifies EOC locations at its Abbeville, Franklin, New Iberia, Morgan City and St. Martinville campuses. It also says the program works with community organizations to bring information and services closer to residents.
The college describes EOC as a federally funded TRiO program. Its eligibility page starts with an age threshold of 19 and lists residency, income, first-generation and veteran-related criteria. Prospective participants can use the contact information on the guide to ask staff whether they qualify and which location can help with their next application or training decision.
