Abbeville’s airport supported an estimated 471 jobs and $62.4 million in annual economic output in a study highlighted by the city on March 10, 2026. The figures describe a wider economic contribution than employment on the airport grounds.
The brochure linked by the city divides Chris Crusta Memorial Airport’s estimated employment impact into 229 direct jobs and 242 jobs attributed to multiplier effects. Within that total, the on-airport category accounts for 99 direct jobs. Visitor-supported activity and capital improvements make up the remaining direct employment.
The brochure attributes its calculations to Mead & Hunt and IMPLAN. Its two pages do not identify the underlying measurement year, so these figures should be read as the study estimates released by the city in March, not a fresh count of workers in September.
In the same brochure, annual output totals $62.364 million: $36.453 million in direct output and $25.911 million from multiplier effects. The wider total is not airport revenue or a city budget appropriation.
The city’s March 10 account describes the airport as serving aviation training, helicopter services, engineering firms and businesses connected to outdoor recreation and energy. That mix places the airfield within several parts of Vermilion Parish’s economy, rather than tying it to a single proposed development.
The city also identifies emergency response and aviation education among the airport’s functions. Those services are part of its account of the airport’s role, alongside the economic estimates; the announcement does not supply separate dollar values for them.
The March release documents an existing aviation asset. It makes no claim that the airport’s reported economic contribution came from the later Pecan Island spaceport announcement.
